Book
“Where does God live?” This innocent question posed by a child can surprise us and, at the same time, provide us with the opportunity for important reflections. God's dwelling place, according to Scripture, is his sanctuary, and the Letter to the Hebrews, besides noting the existence of a heavenly sanctuary (Heb 8:2; 9:8, 11), testifies that its true priest (4:1; 7:26), the true sacrifice offered there for sins (9:24-26), and the true salvation that comes from them, find their substance in Christ (10:10), our Mediator in heaven. In the letter there is a striking contrast between the blood of Christ and that of the previously sacrificed animals: it is better and more effective, indeed it is the only truly effective one; in fact, no other blood could have truly assured forgiveness. The death of Christ is the only reason by virtue of which sins, before and after the cross, are forgiven (9:15) and salvation is achieved.
In this volume, a literary adaptation of a university research work, the author takes a theological-pastoral approach and aims to seek in the sanctuary the various "faces" of God: the messianic, Christological, ecclesiological, soteriological, and eschatological faces.
