The book
In this small volume you hold in your hands, you will find meditations on the Bible. They are not exactly sermons; they have been, and perhaps will be again. However, for a meditation—that is, a careful, almost meticulous, but not pedantic, listening to the Word of God, that is, the Bible, in which, by the power of the Spirit, we hear His Word—to become a sermon, it must be preached. That is, it must be delivered in one's own words, within a liturgical assembly. And it is precisely on that occasion that a meditation on Scripture and of Scripture becomes a sermon. But at the same time, if it is good sermon, the sermon, if it is good, emancipates itself somewhat from the written text and becomes something else: on that occasion, from the pulpit or another place, in the presence of the assembly and after the invocation, the decisive hermeneutic experience with the text takes place, God willing, even though the preacher has previously and extensively prepared for it.

He is currently director of the Department of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty for the Adventist Church in Italy, as well as director of the Villa Aurora Adventist Institute in Florence.
